Toe up? why, yes it is ;)
I have done it...It's not brilliant but it does resemble what it's supposed to and that will do for me.
There's a bit of tweaking still needed but for now, tomorrow is another sock ;)

Coming out of the comfort zone.
After lamenting on the last post about not being able to bring myself to start a sock toe-up...
I've only gone and pushed myself to do it!!!! All I needed was a kick up the jacksy and the 'magic cast on'.
It was a bit fiddly but perserverance prevailed and it's not bad. I'm told it looks pointy but neat, so what the hey. :D
However...i've never done a short row heel before either, so it might end up as a tube sock lol!!!!

Socks...love? hate? up? or down?
Socks? Why do we do it?
This pair have just come off the needles.
Apart from the fact I found the Regia cotton a bit too slippery on my metal dpns, so I had to use bamboo (I don't really like these but they had to do), there's nothing wrong with them...except for the fact that I have a fair bit leftover and wish I had made them longer (grrr).
Of course...I know the answer is "toe-up". I have the simple socks plain and fancy by Priscilla Gibson-Roberts. I've read it over and over BUT I CAN'T DO IT!!
By this I mean I can't BRING myself to do it...I just automatically cast on a cuff.
(and get left with little balls of annoying waste)
Now for something else....the other addiction that is Lace.
After mastering a few stitch patterns that worked over around 10 rows, I decided to try something a little harder (well harder for me) and cast on for a simple scarf...
Little did I realise, that not only have I done it upside down (I thought you grafted 2 bits together but appararently you do a provincial cast on) 28 row patterns don't stick in your head like the others do.
This is where learning to read a chart would help...:D I could be some time.

A little bit of practise and some pics ;)
Well...I can't say I have done well on the blogging front can I?
But on the other hand, I have made a shed load of progress on the knitting front!
Now i'm going to try and post some pictures...
The is the Kiri shawl using colinettes parisienne...I managed to get all but one repeat before finishing the edge. This is was cos I was cheap and only used 2 skeins!(well I only had 2...)
and yet another...who gets addicted to patterns?
This one was also made in a laceweight but the yarn was from a friend and I have no idea what it was (sorry you info loving peeps;))
And finally, cos i'm afraid i'm somewhat boring and I don't want you all fall asleep...
It's the feather and fan cardy from the knitalong on the crafty threads n yarns forum.
This was made in hayfields classic mercerised cotton, so classic infact it's discontinued and somewhat vintage lol.
Oh well that's all folks... I hope to God that this works, i'm off to learn how put in links and buttons and stuff. :D
