A No Brainer (also a bit fruity!)

You Are 45% Left Brained, 55% Right Brained

The left side of your brain controls verbal ability, attention to detail, and reasoning.

Left brained people are good at communication and persuading others.

If you're left brained, you are likely good at math and logic.

Your left brain prefers dogs, reading, and quiet.

The right side of your brain is all about creativity and flexibility.

Daring and intuitive, right brained people see the world in their unique way.

If you're right brained, you likely have a talent for creative writing and art.

Your right brain prefers day dreaming, philosophy, and sports.

I first read this on Joys blog and either my brain can't quite make up it's mind too or I use more of my brain than I originally thought lol Pretty cool though isn't it?

Now I have been doing some knitting but there's not much to show, as I have been somewhat scattered and just cast on for several things and that's it...just cast ons!!! What I really need is for an exciting pattern to come along and grab my full attention - wonder what that (or when that) will be?

And just to cheer me up

You Are an Orange

You have a zest for life, especially for anything colorful, wild, or dramatic.

You have a unique take on the world, and you're not afraid to be a little funky.

You are a bit reserved toward people who don't know you well.

You have a thick skin, which can protect you from anything that goes wrong in your life.

Once someone does get to know you, they totally get and appreciate you.

Your friends see you as a bright person with a refreshing take on life.

I'm a bit of a fruit too ;)

yarn and dishcloths.

Well here's my January prize for the sock yarn project...

...have you guessed what it is yet? lol

It's a skein of gorgeous bamboo from the Yarn Yard. The colourway is Kyoto (i'm definately having a purple phase at the mo)

Here's my dishcloth from the swap over at CTnY Forum

This was made the lovely CraftyBernie. She also included a lovely needle roll

an inside shot too with little stickers and a pen.

And my comment in the previous post still stands....all comments will put into a draw for a little something from me....just haven't decided what exactly yet ;) lol

February??? where did January go?

Wow well that was quick...time for my monthly update I guess ;)
Well i've been sort of busy..this is a post of FO's (which i'm pleased about) and also I was given an award by the lovely Joy
Thankyou very much indeed :D
Now the problem with all these awards is that when you come to pass them on everyone has already been nominated previously..so I will go away and come back to this later on.

Right then, stuff :)

First up are the two things that have just won me the January Sock Yarn Challenge prize over at Crafty Threads n Yarns

My prize is a skein of yarn of my choice from n at the The Yarn Yard I've already chosen but i'll post a pic when it arrives so you'll have to wait till then...hee hee!

Then I made a matching hat...

..which is now owned by sis along with the wristwarmers! (you just can't have anything can you? lol)

These were also finished last month, after I had a panic about running out of yarn...which is not like me at all but there you go lol
My friend chose the yarn and the tidal wave pattern, so I would've been gutted if I had run out. Instead I have about 20g left rofl!! The yarn was/is Skein Queen's Plushness in Thames River colourway, it feels blummin lovely too :D

And finally here's me...

...wearing my Purple Tree (Jacket)which was supposed to be my first FO of the year but it got pushed out by the nautiloid ;)

Ciao For Now xxx

First post of 2008!

Okay, so i'm not exactly on the ball when it comes to blogging. (I bet that came as a shock didn't it? ;))

But HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! to everyone...I hope 2008 is a good un for you all.

I do have a couple of FO's and a WIP...I'll start with last years lol.

This was my practise hat...I made up a basic hat shaped pattern and used the snowflake chart from the lovely Anni's snowflake socks.
Fairisle will be a big part of 2008 I think.

Now back to this year...My first FO...what can I say, apart from 'Ds asked for it' :D

It's knitty's Nautie the Knitted Nautiloid (try saying that fast lol)
I think it's weird, DS thinks it's fab! (i'm not where the little knitted bug was made but he wanted in on the action too I think)

Next up are these,

The little sky socks from cat bordhi's new book 'New Pathways For Sock Knitters'
I love this book, ok...so it took some getting used to her descriptions of things but the diagrams are perfect and for the first time ever I get short rows.
I had a bit of a moment with the 'daughter, mother, grandmother stitches'(if you've read the book you may know what i'm on about)...I obviously got confuddled cos when I got to the bottom of my shaping, i'd found my long lost sister :)but now I like making these, so it's on to sock 2 (tomorrow)

And the WIP...well it's something i've already made before but if a patterns a good one, i'll go round the block with it!

Yes! It's another Tree Jacket...this time i'm sirdar aran with wool in a purple called heather. It's knitting up nicely but a tad thicker than the wendy aran so i've gone up a size to medium and it fits a treat. Not bad to say I was hoping this was going to be my first FO of 2008...ah well nevermind.

I'll try and post again before february :p

just a few things...

Christmas is almost upon us and my knitting has slowed down immensely. I have finshed a couple of things, all that is unfinished will be done as and when (I can be ar*ed lol)

Here's what I managed to finish

These are Anni's snowflake pattern from Sockamania...I love these :D
I used 2.5mm circs and Sirdars town and Country sock yarn in Lichen and a Brown mix.

And this chunky knit cardy for my neice...it does now have lovely pink buttons that match perfectly but I gave it to her as soon I had sewn them on and forgot to get another pic..ooops.

And because I really like using 2 colours at the moment, I decided to make a hat. It's not a particular pattern, I just used the motif from the socks and let DD choose the colours.

Here's my progress...

Right...I think this place needs a bit of tinsel and some trimmings...so i'm off to decorate.

Merry Christmas Everybody!!!!!!

I have been knitting...just not posting much.

Firstly, this is the Zephyr Style Tree Jacket. I love this pattern so much. This was my first attempt at a top down, in the round sweater and it has to be my favourite choice. I made the small size and used 5mm circs, the yarn was wendy aran with wool in Lagoon blue and I probably used around 650/700g (it was hard to tell as I had 2 400g balls but I have quite a lot left over)

This is yet another forest canopy shawl but again I adore this pattern and I will never get bored with it. This was the first for me that I have made using lace weight yarn though and the effect is just as gorgeous as 4ply, DK or aran...there aren't many patterns that adapt so well...to like, everything!
The yarn was a merino lace the was sent to me by a very lovely person but we don't actually know that much about it, which is a shame cos it is so nice. (sorry folks)

the next thing I have finished is this...

...CALORIMETRY!. These things are spreading like wildfire on the crafty threads n yarns forum. Personally I blame Franney ;) but they are cool so I ought to thank her really. :D

(i'll add clicky links to appropriate people and places tomorrow...it's just too late now and it's been sooooo long....i've forgotten how ;))

Normal Posting Will Resume Shortly...

...because I got my Ravelry invite!!!!! lol.
I finished a cardigan (albeit a baby one)and I forgot to post it here...i'm almost done with Mam's Tank Top and I didn't even do a progress pic. I even forgot to post up a pic of n at the yarnyard's beautiful organic merino and I have started a scarf in that.

All in all this post is just full crap really to make it look like i'm contributing something when really i'm not.

Ravelry is starting to bite into my hours....and i've not even started to post anything on there yet. My new ID pic is this.
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

It's also in my side bar so you can click on it and go to ravelry from here....although no-one is going to actually visit here to go to there but you can if you want lol.

I have added a free pattern by me to my sidebar though...of course knitting Goldfish may not be your thing...but i've seen some obscure knitted items in my life.

If anyone has got a few good ideas on how to organise time better without having to pack in work or anything let me know ;)

A Shiny Diversion

Ever been distracted by all things shiny? Of course you have :D I made this whilst I was supposed to be finishing off 'The Sock'.....I also cast on a bit of lace too.
I had this magpie moment when I found the kiltpin, whilst rummaging around in my box of bits looking for a sewing needle. The hematite winked at me from the bottom of said box too and that was it. I was occupied with something else lol.

I will finish the sock before September 30th....just need things to stop shining at me ;)

odd sock

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Would kind of look something like this....should I go for it or not???

Finished A Fairisle Sock...

That fits yay!!!!
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I have cast on for number two...I was considering doing the crosses in turquoise for the second sock...a deliberate left and right, what do you think? matching or complete insane proper odd socks made to measure!

A Fairisle First.

I started Anni's new september pattern for this months Sockamania challenge.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

However...it was way too tight and I frogged it this morning. I really like this pattern though and I have started it again using the same colours, hopefully a lot more slacker this time round.

I'm still chuffed with myself though :D

This, That And An Award Aswell!

Firstly I would like to Thank CJ for nominating me for the schmoozer!...

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
"Schmoozing is the natural ability “to converse casually, especially in order to gain an advantage or make a social connection. Good schmoozers effortlessly weave their way in and out of the blogsphere, leaving friendly trails and smiles, happily making new friends along the way. They don’t limit their visits to only the rich and successful, but spend some time to say hello to new blogs as well. They are the ones who engage others in meaningful conversations, refusing to let it end at a mere hello - all the while fostering a sense of closeness and friendship".
(I copied this off CJ, who copied it off of someone else first lol)

I'm quite chuffed but have to go through blogland now to find someone who hasn't got one already....maybe there could be another button made for schmoozer2 or something ;)
I'll get on to it soonish though I promise.

Next up are the last 2 items made from Joys lovely collinette yarns (I have now knitted or crocheted up the lot!)
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

The beanie is crocheted using giotto and prism (I think)...with a couple of embellishments, yet to be decided upon.

The scarf was made using colinette mohair in damson velvet colourway. I love the subtle shading in this colour and it's sooooo warm and not at all itchy (well not for me anyway)

Lastly...I've been working on this

I have made it up but basically it's just a stitch pattern called 'fern lace'done on 4.5mm needles...then a bit of rib, a needle change (4mm) and the rest is basically a tank top lol It has a sort of thermal vest look about it..think 'Damart' you get the idea.

I'm off to try a fairisle sock....maybe ;)

Knitting From Stash...

Well mostly from other peoples stash really lol.

I was given some lovely pink snuggly 4ply from Debs aka melody yarns. I quipped that has she had heard of 'Rhapsody in blue' I was naming this little cardy 'Melody in Pink' lol
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Then, I was also sent a selection of skeins from Colinette by Aknita.
I promised I would try and do the yarn justice and these evolved...
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
I crocheted a 'pinwheel' from the banyan yarn.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
A chunky neckwarmer from the 'stuff I have no idea what it's called' skein lol

And my favourite is this...
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I used up one skein of Giotto and one of mohair and made a fabbo scarf.

So there you have it...loads of stash knitting and none of it was from mine lol

All In A (2) Days Work.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Mystery Yarn Tank Top....bought for 50p. Bargain!

I really do have no idea what the yarn is, it's cotton and that's about it. I have a bit left over too. I may be sporting a matching hat or something soon ;)

FO's + WIP's = HAPPY!

Mam very happily modelled her new cardigan on Saturday...and I don't think there's a single person on her street who hasn't seen it! Yay, I was proud and very pleased she liked it. Not to mention that it fit (always a worry)

I also finished the Blue socks. These will be Augusts' entry for the Sock-A-Month challenge over on the Crafty Threads Forum.
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I also started a Star Afghan. This was thanks to Nevisknitter and also Chrissy who's finished hers too.
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

And last but by no means least, there's another project on the go...
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

...well, there will be soon lol
This gorgeous lace weight yarn was hand dyed by the very talented CJ and she sent it to me as a suprise!
The photo doesn't do the yarn any justice at all but hopefully there will be a work in progress shot soon...I just need to find a pattern and i'm away.
Thankyou very much CJ.

Mams Cardy Is Finished!

And you lovely people get to see it first ;)
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I'm sure Mam won't mind (she probably won't even know lol)

I would also like to say Thankyou to all of you who have commented on the progress. It has been a great help in keeping me going and to be honest, I AM going to be sad now it's done :(

( and the "what the hell do I blog about now" syndrome has kicked in).

There will be a special modelled pic when I give it to her on Saturday though. :D

So Blogging is An Addiction Too

77%How Addicted to Blogging Are You?

(this was taken from Donna's blog...hope you don't mind ;))

But Mams cardy is almost finished....have a sleeve to go, sew them in and Voila!...I've already finished crocheting the bands.....not long now....:D
